Nephrolepis flexuosa PB3 - Native Ladder Fern

A creeping ladder fern, this native species is NOT the exotic invasive ladder fern. It has no tubers and smaller drooping fronds.

 

It is confined to the North Island around active geothermal fields from the Rotorua Lakes District to Lake Taupo.  Epiphytic on rocks or on banks. Uncommon but hardy and easy in cultivation. Needs room to spread. Great on banks and as a ground cover under dappled shade. Ideal Green Wall plant.

 

Collectors fern.
